Supporting CAFT in Gt Manchester Run 2012
As part of our commitment to working in the community, each year Cloud4 selects a Charity we believe in, to support with fundraising and expertise as required. Our charity for 2012 is the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust in Cheshire.
About CAFT and their work!
Based around a beautiful 17th century farmhouse, in the heart of Cheshire countryside, the Charity offers free adventure breaks and activities to children who are disadvantaged by illness, disability and poverty, from all over the Northwest. The receives no government funding so operates completely on donations and we admire the outstanding work they do for disadvantaged children.
The Challenge: BUPA Great Manchester Run 2012
As part of our commitment to helping raise funds for CAFT, Cloud4 set two of our team Phil and Mike the challenge of competing in the BUPA Great Manchester Run 2012. Phil has run in the event before, but Mike was a complete running novice and trained hard, no correction didn’t train at all for the event.
It was a fantastic day with a great atmosphere around the city, and the Cloud4 team complete with CAFT running vests took to the start line. Mike’s sole aim at the start was to high five Bobby Charlton on the way through until he successfully managed to run the wrong side of the gantry and miss him all together. Then it was time to settle into the run which was also great fun. In the end both did a great job with Phil completing the course in 51:17 and Mike on 53:10, which put both in the top 7000 of 40’000 competitors so well done team!
More importantly than anything though, we managed to raise over £200.00 for CAFT which will go toward supporting the continuing work they do.
