You may, or may not, have read about the recent data leak which has sprung up across the web which involves Dropbox and Box. If you don’t know, Dropbox and Box are two of the world’s largest cloud based file sharing platforms and are used on a daily basis. What’s happened is that supposedly “secure links” to files within the service are not so secure and allow anyone on the web to access them with a simple search.
It’s well known that more and more businesses are adopting cloud computing technologies as cost effective and efficient way to reduce costs, increase mobility and productivity across the organisation without the need to continually upgrade or purchase expensive new hardware.
Many small businesses have re-evaluated what the company network is and are using an ever increasing number of technology innovations to build their IT networks.

A Leigh-based business is bucking the trend by increasing turnover in the recession!
There are not many companies that can boast an increase in turnover of 15% per month throughout the UK in these times, and with over 36’000 individual users using their services in 24 countries globally including Australia, USA and Russia, but Cloud4 Computers can.
Cloud 4 Computers MD Phil Donoghue recently attended a Round Table discussion on SME’s and the Economy.
Speaking at the event was IoD Chief Economist Graeme Leach who spoke about the flat-lining UK economy, and why L shaped recoveries are the norm in the wake of a financial crisis, due to the weakness of the banking system, de-leveraging and anaemic growth in the money supply.
For many businesses, making the decision to move away from “the way we’ve always done it” can be a big step. This has always been particularly true concerning organisations IT infrastructure or services. Now with the Cloud developing so quickly, businesses are being asked to take a larger leap than at any other time away from the historic norm!
Technology wise, the playing field is becoming ever more even for small businesses (SME’s) Vs their corporate counterparts! That’s down to the cost effective availability of high end technology, that SME’s can access through cloud computing. Welcome to the Cloud4 Computers blog. 3 years in the making but in our defence we have been very busy with development of our hosted services and looking after our clients incredibly well.
Let me start by saying it’s been an exciting and interesting journey through the last 3 years, in which we’ve seen “Cloud Computing” become an industry with so much potential for changing the way businesses view and use IT. Of course, providing IT services through hosting is not in any way a new concept, people have been using hosted email services for over 20 years, and let’s face it who actually hosts their own website?
